The southern United States
is bound together by many commonalities, not the least of which include a
vibrant and growing economy, a strong and cooperative international
business community, a high quality of life, and a low cost of
business. Existing within this
region of the United
States is one of the world's largest
and strongest biosciences communities, a community that BioSouth desires
to foster and support.
The mission of BioSouth is to
serve the biosciences industry within the southern United States by:
o
Supporting the business of the biosciences industry, including
the commercialization of its underlying science;
o
Fostering and strengthening relationships between its members'
states and the international community; and
o
Serving as a liaison between the southern United States and the
national and international biosciences communities.
To
accomplish its mission, BioSouth will pursue and establish conferences
and educational programs and initiatives that will, first and foremost,
have as a central focus the development and growth of the biosciences
industry located within the southern United States and
internationally. In developing
such programs, we will take into consideration and seek to incorporate
the needs and concerns of our scientists, research institutions,
companies and our international partners, believing strongly that any
effort designed to support this industry presupposes the need to foster
national and international relationships.
