As director of business development for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Joe Nolan identifies new business opportunities that complement the company's strategic objectives and global initiatives. Nolan works in concert with the company's commercial operations, R&D and finance groups to identify, assess and negotiate product and alliance opportunities.

Over the past three decades, Nolan's pharmaceutical career has spanned the areas of pre-clinical and discovery research, clinical development and his current focus on business development. Prior to joining Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Nolan held management positions with Whitby Research, Inc. and A.H. Robins Company, Inc., as well as research positions with Lederle Laboratories.

Nolan earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Fairfield University and a doctorate in biological sciences from the University of Rhode Island. He was a post-doctoral fellow at both the University of Rhode Island and the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology. Nolan represents Solvay Pharmaceuticals on the Georgia Biomedical Partnership and is an active member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, North American Menopause Society and Licensing Executive Society.
